FIRM PROFILE

Rose Community Builders

Formed in 2020, Rose Community Builders is a wholly owned subsidiary of its parent company, Rose Company Holdings which is also the parent company of our real estate operating platform, Jonathan Rose Companies. Rose Community Builders was established to expand upon Jonathan Rose Companies’ mission and work. We work exclusively with Jonathan Rose Companies on select rehabilitation projects where we can leverage our extensive experience in project planning, preconstruction, bidding, and the construction phase to deliver projects on time, on budget, and with the highest level of quality while ensuring prioritization of the residents’ wellbeing throughout the design and construction process.

Jonathan Rose Companies is a National development, investment, and management firm. The company’s mission is to strengthen communities of opportunity by developing innovative real estate solutions that build value, enhance resilience, and cultivate wellbeing. Since its founding in 1989, the firm has completed over $4.2 billion of work. The company is widely recognized as a leader for design excellence, walkability, economic, social, and ecological responsibility, creating successful models that also enhance the ability of their residents and communities to thrive.

Throughout Jonathan Rose Companies’ history we hired third-party General Contractors (“GC”) and Construction Managers (“CM”) to execute the majority of our work. This strategy allowed us to fortify strong relationships with subcontractors across many markets in the country while simultaneously building a team of in-house construction professionals who provided oversight of the third party GCs and CMs. We've often felt our rehabilitation projects required more than what a third party could provide. It needed a resident first approach to the process which leveraged the interconnection of all aspects of our company, ensured the safety of our residents, the quality of work being performed in our buildings, and the control over budgeting and schedule. Prior to the establishment of a formal construction company we tested the viability of this model by performing General Contracting services on two renovation projects on the east coast, Shippan Place (148 unit senior affordable building in Stamford, CT) and Shore Hill (558 unit senior affordable building in Brooklyn, NY). The success we’ve experienced to date solidified our viewpoint that the future of certain rehabilitations within our portfolio would be done through a construction entity we own.
